Amerisource Bergen
Lead UX Consultant
The Strategic Problem
AmerisourceBergen aimed to unify two siloed analytics tools - SmartRx and InfoDive - into a single platform called Practice Health Insights (PHI). The goal was to give healthcare clients a holistic view of their clinical and business performance across subscriptions. While a design system existed for branding, there were no data visualization standards, and developers had already committed to ApexCharts.js, introducing strict constraints.
Success depended on delivering an intuitive, scalable dashboard experience that respected both user expectations and technical limitations - all within a highly regulated healthcare environment.
My Approach
As the lead UX consultant, I directed product discovery, interaction design, and dev handoff, with an emphasis on creating a consistent and actionable data experience. My work focused on aligning user insight with business and technical realities to ensure the PHI platform was not just usable — but strategically valuable.
Key initiatives included:
User interviews and competitive analysis to identify pain points in clinical and operational reporting
Simplified navigation model and card-based layout to streamline complex workflows across roles
Visualization strategy using ApexCharts.js, customized to improve clarity, hierarchy, and comparative context
High-fidelity prototyping in Figma with iterative stakeholder and user feedback
Close collaboration with front-end developers to ensure design fidelity and responsive behavior across devices
Usability testing with a range of clinical and business users to validate design decisions

Results
Delivered a unified analytics platform that aligned product, brand, and user needs across multiple legacy systems
Improved user understanding of performance metrics through simplified flows and tailored visualizations
Received strong feedback from leadership on design clarity, polish, and cross-platform adaptability

Strategic Takeaway
Designing enterprise health tools means balancing compliance, constraints, and clarity. By shaping a product that worked within rigid technical and regulatory limits - while still delivering a modern, intuitive experience 0 we helped PHI evolve from data aggregation to strategic insight delivery.
