HD Supply
Lead UX Consultant
The Strategic Problem
HD Supply was losing efficiency and trust in its shipping operations - over 50% of outbound orders had some form of error. Field audits were inconsistent, paper-based, and lacked real-time visibility. Leadership needed a scalable mobile tool to help frontline auditors identify and resolve issues at the source, while also laying the digital foundation for future AI-powered analytics.
This project was a mission-critical component of a broader supply chain transformation effort.

      My Approach
I led the design of a native mobile auditing tool that redefined how HD Supply’s auditors worked on the floor. My focus was on reducing friction, clarifying next steps, and enabling accurate, real-time auditing in a chaotic warehouse environment - all within the constraints of SAP integration and Material 3 standards.
Key initiatives included:
- On-site workflow observation: Shadowed frontline auditors to document day-to-day behavior, cognitive load, and operational edge cases
- Prototyping & iteration: Built wireframes and interactive Figma prototypes, iterating based on feedback from logistics stakeholders and field testers
- System integration strategy: Partnered with SAP developers early to align design logic with system architecture and backend constraints
- Design system alignment: Applied Material 3 to ensure brand consistency and simplify development cycles
- Usability testing & validation: Testing to ensure clarity, speed, and trust in critical workflows
Results
- Streamlined frontline auditing workflows, reducing order inaccuracy rates and increasing accountability at the point of issue
- Improved auditor efficiency and reduced cognitive fatigue by introducing clearer paths and error-resolution flows
- Positioned the product as a scalable platform for future AI-powered audit recommendations and analytics
- Helped leadership see UX as a driver of operational performance for future investment in internal tooling

      Strategic Takeaway
Designing for field logistics isn’t about screens, it’s about empowering action in motion. By translating real-world audit behavior into clean, intelligent UX flows, I helped HD Supply move from reactive error handling to proactive, real-time resolution - and helped lay the foundation for their digital operations roadmap.
