Executive Summary

Hilco Global's internal product ecosystem had evolved into a collection of disconnected applications, dashboards, and reporting tools that lacked consistency, scalability, and a unified user experience. The fragmented environment created duplicated effort for development teams while making navigation and workflows inconsistent for employees and clients. As Lead UX Consultant, I helped establish a shared design foundation that unified multiple products under a scalable component library, improving usability while accelerating future product development.

challenge

The organization had accumulated years of UX debt across multiple business units. Each product had evolved independently, resulting in inconsistent interaction patterns, duplicated functionality, and inefficient development workflows. Rather than redesigning individual interfaces, the challenge was creating a common design language capable of supporting long-term product growth without disrupting existing business operations.

strategic decision

Instead of approaching each product independently, I focused on the ecosystem as a whole. Through stakeholder workshops, user interviews, and workflow analysis, I identified recurring interaction patterns shared across finance, operations, marketing, and executive reporting tools. These findings informed the creation of a reusable design system and component library that standardized navigation, interaction behaviors, and visual hierarchy while remaining flexible enough to support diverse enterprise workflows. Working closely with engineering, I ensured the system could be efficiently implemented using Bootstrap while establishing a sustainable foundation for future digital initiatives.
